Scott's uncle's dad carved over 500 chains from a variety of wood. The smallest chains were carved from toothpicks. Elmer Marting Sr is in the Guinness Book of Records for having the largest known display of wood carvings made by one person. The carvings have their own room at the Monona Museum. He also carved farm scenes, quilt-y looking blocks and other stuff besides chains.
